The World’s Coolest Intern’ will work with the Breeze team, based in Singapore for six months to help run our social media platforms, including the Breeze blog and Twitter feed, as well as play a key role in the development of the Breeze social media strategy.  Check out the full job description at the end of this post, for details.
The winner will be on a contract for six months and take home a prize money of S$5000 per month, or S$30,000 over 6 months. Moreover, the winner will receive training on social media and online engagement from some of the best in the business, including Qais Consulting – on Strategic Social Media Activation; Edelman – on PR; JamiQ – on Social Media Analytics, Christophe Langlois fromVisible Banking – on Social Media specific to Finance/Banking and Pat Law (Goodstuph) – on social influence marketing.
We’re after someone who’s a great communicator, someone who gets what social and digital media is all about and knows how to build and engage with online communities. So if the last thing you do before you go to bed at night is check your Facebook page and the first thing you do in the morning is log into TweetDeck, then you may be the sort of person we’re looking for.
Recruitment for the role of the ‘World’s Coolest Intern’ will be conducted entirely online, so if you’d like to apply you’ll need to follow the process outlined below:

Applications for the ‘World’s Coolest Intern’ role close on 15 October 31 October, 2010, so you’ll need to act quickly. We want someone who is proactive and enthusiastic, so we reckon the challenging deadline will not be an obstacle for the right contestant.
Once applications close we’ll use the following process to select the ‘World’s Coolest Intern’:
  • 2 Nov 2010 – Top 20 contestants will be shortlisted to proceed to the second stage based on their digital footprint. Standard Chartered Bank will use JamiQ social media monitoring tool to analyse the digital footprint.
  • 5 Nov 2010 – Top 10 contestants will be shortlisted by Standard Chartered Bank after conducting a qualitative analysis of the online content published by the top 20 candidates, including their blogs, Twitter page to determine the ability to communicate and engage with the digital communities.
  • 8 – 12 Nov 2010 – Top 10 contestants be interviewed via SCB HireVue’s Video Job Interviewing Platform and the “World’s Coolest Intern” will be selected.
  • The ‘World’s Coolest Intern’ and 2 runner-ups will be publicly announced on 20 Nov, 2010.
  • The “World’s Coolest Intern” will commence work in the Breeze team on a mutually agreed date between the winner and Standard Chartered Bank.

Job Description:
The winner for the ‘World’s Coolest Intern’ role will be required to:
  • Provide creative ideas to promote Breeze using various social media channels, and to conduct brain storming sessions with peers to source campaign ideas
  • Support the Breeze marketing manager in managing projects and executing campaigns/initiatives
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external partners to manage all social media assets and to organize outreach events, including:
    • Update and maintain the Breeze blog, including posting relevant articles and responding to posts/comments
    • Update and maintain the Twitter account
    • Update and maintain the Youtube account
    • Update and maintain the Flickr account
    • Organize/launch social media marketing/outreach activities such as bloggers’ meet, tweet-ups, etc.
Skills Requirement:
The ideal contestant would be a current Marketing/IT student or recent graduate looking for practical training and experience in the social media field. He/she needs to be:
  • A social connector and strong communicator  in English
  • Passionate about technology
  • Experienced in various social media channels
Terms and conditions:
The offer of employment is subject to a formal contract with the winner and Standard Chartered Bank, satisfactory clearance of the banks pre-employment process and subject to obtaining legal rights to work in Singapore.  In the event that the winner fails to obtain legal rights to work in Singapore, the offer will be made to the first runner-up.
Employees of Standard Chartered Bank, their advertising and promotion agencies and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible.
Closing Dates:
The closing date for applications is 15 October 31 October, 2010. Please note all closing dates are given in Singapore time (GMT + 8 hours). We aim to respond to successful applicants within two weeks and will keep a record or your application in our database so that we can contact you if when suitable vacancies arise in future.

  • The winner may be required to participate in public relations events tied to the contest to generate press coverage of the contest and the accessories range. This may include, but not be limited to, quotes given for inclusion in press releases and press conferences, interviews, etc.
  • Standard Chartered Bank reserves the right to disqualify all entries that do not meet the rules and regulations of the Contest. These include entries submitted with invalid or incorrect information.
  • Standard Chartered Bank cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the Contest or as a result of entering the Contest or accepting any prize. Standard Chartered Bank is not responsible for any safe custody, return, non-delivery or missing of entries, late, misdirected, problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, telephone lines or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to contestant’s or any other person’s computer or mobile telephone related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Contest.
  • By entering the Contest or accepting the internship, contestants agree that no claim relating to such losses or injuries (including special, indirect and consequential losses) shall be brought against Standard Chartered Bank, its parent companies, affiliates, directors, officers, employees or agents from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind resulting from the Contest and acceptance of any prize, including without limitation, personal injuries, death and property damage.
Use of Personal Information
  • By entering the contest, You agree:
    • to the use of your name and/or likeness, without compensation, for Standard Chartered Bank promotional and marketing purposes; and
    • to the use of the information submitted on the contest entry form, without compensation, for Standard Chartered Bank promotional and marketing purposes; and
